How quickly will my virtual machine be available?
|
|
|
Our SLA dictates that virtual machines will be available within 24 hours from receipt of initial payment. Virtual machines are typically ready for use within an hour, depending on the configuration you have chosen.

Can I change the amount of RAM or number of CPUs available to my virtual machine?
|
|
|
Yes. Each virtual machine can be configured with 1, 2 or 4GB of RAM, and 1, 2 or 4 CPUs. RAM and CPU configurations are paired, so that a single CPU virtual machine is allocated 1GB of RAM, 2 CPUs receive 2GB etc.

Does my virtual machine have to be configured with multiple CPUs if I upgrade the RAM?
|
|
|
No. Even if you have chosen 2 or 4GB of RAM, you do not need to use all the CPUs available - although in most cases you would. RAM and CPUs are combined in this fashion to provide the best possible performance from our hosting technology.

What happens if I need more storage?
|
|
|
You can simply add more storage as necessary in the standard 100GB, 200GB, 500GB, 1TB or 2TB blocks. Log in to your VM Hosting Control Panel to create the new storage.

Can I resize my Windows partition to take advantage of this new storage?
|
|
|
Yes. Again, from within your VM Hosting Control Panel you will be provided this option once you have created the new storage. Note that Windows system partitions CAN NOT be resized.

What is the maximum partition size?
|
|
|
Maximum partition sizes are typically dictated by the guest operating system. For 32 bit Windows virtual machines this limit is 2TB.

Who provides the software licenses?
|
|
|
We provide many Microsoft licenses via a monthly SPLA agreement. Alternatively you can use your own licenses once your have provided evidence of their validity.

What software licenses can I rent from you on the monthly SPLA agreement?
|
|
|
We are always adding to this list, which currently includes Windows 2003 Server R2 (Web, Std & Ent), Office (various versions), Project, SQL Server 2005 (Std & Ent), Exchange Server 2003 or 2007 (Std & Ent), ISA Server & CRM Professional.

How do you you contend the host processors?
|
|
|
CPUs are contended at 6:1 - for each processor core, 6 CPUs are available for virtual machines.

I would like to create a bespoke virtual machine with no contention. Is this possible?

Where are your data centres?
|
|
|
We have two data centres in London, England and one in North America. All are purpose built facilities hosting some of the most critical services for the world's largest organisations and offer the best service levels available for security, power and cooling.

Can I choose where my virtual machines are hosted?
|
|
|
Yes. You choose the location that your virtual machines are hosted (Europe or North America) when you create your LAN. Virtual machines residing on an individual LAN all reside at the same data centre.
